I ran across this phrase in a magazine article and I had to look it up- just to make sure I was reading it right. Because it literally translates to “shed tears that are like chicken poop.”
닭 - Chicken
똥 - Poop
같은 - to be like, to be similar to
눈물 - tears (literally eye-water)
흘리다 - cry, shed, sweat, perspire
I guess the tears are big, round, warm, and steamy… like chicken poop. It’s a funny phrase, but after asking a few people it is not uncommon.

Hi, would there be any way that you could also post the romanization of the word after the hangul version? This would be really helpful for someone like myself who has learned the alphabet and has a small vocabulary...let me know
Hi there. First of all let me thank you for sending me a message. It is always nice to hear from people who check out my tumblr. The reason why I don’t add romanization is that this the focus is on intermediate vocabulary, and usually those learning intermediate vocabulary words have mastered reading Hangul. My advice would be to take your time learning to read and pronounce correctly, and then move to build your vocabulary next. It is hard at first (I know- I’ve been there!) but you’ll get there :)
Hi! Are you still working on your hanja website? I started learning them, starting from the first level, and the higher the levels are, the more improperly formatted they are. I`d love to keep learning them (:
Yes, I work on it everyday. I’m try to get through Level 4(II) right now. It takes time, of course. I think if I took a few months off from work and family I could complete the whole thing. Who knows though? I’m still finding that I’m updating stuff in Level 8, which is the easiest, and I keep thinking I’m done with it but then I find things that aren’t done. Or just sloppy. Thanks for asking though. It gets a few visits a day, which is interesting.
